Summer Travel Made Easy: Ahmedabad Airport Expands Connectivity

Ahmedabad, 13 April 2023 – As summer season and school vacations approach, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport is making it easier for travelers to escape the heat and head for the mountains by expanding its air connectivity to both domestic and international destinations.

This summer, the airport will connect Ahmedabad to 39 domestic and 19 international destinations, served by nine domestic and 17 international airline carriers. SVPI Airport has been working with airlines to add new destinations and increase the frequency of flights to popular locations.

Daily direct flights from Ahmedabad to Dehradun make it convenient for travelers to explore Mussoorie, Rishikesh, and other parts of Uttarakhand. Jammu, the gateway to Vaishnodevi and Himachal Pradesh, is also accessible via direct flights, making it easier to visit Dalhousie, Dharmshala, and other popular destinations in the region.

Eastern India is well connected, with direct flights to Bagdogra for those looking to visit Darjeeling, Gangtok, or Kalimpong. Wildlife enthusiasts can fly directly to Pantnagar via Jaipur for quick access to Jim Corbett National Park, Nainital, and other tourist hotspots in Uttarakhand.

Southern India's wildlife reserves and hill stations, such as Ooty, Bandipur National Park, and Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, are also well connected through flights to Coimbatore, Chennai, and other regional airports. For shorter trips, travelers can fly to Pune for access to Lonavala and Khandala or to Belgaum for a visit to Bamboo Village.

SVPI Airport currently operates over 240 flights daily, catering to more than 31,000 passengers on average daily. The airport's continuous efforts to strengthen connectivity from Ahmedabad include flights to Amritsar and Chandigarh, which provide additional access to Himachal Pradesh. Adventure lovers can also fly to these cities and then drive or bike to Srinagar or Leh via Manali or Jammu. A direct flight to Srinagar is expected to commence in June.

In addition, four weekly flights to Dibrugarh via Delhi and a daily flight to Guwahati via Delhi connect travelers to Assam, the gateway to the Seven Sister states of India. Southern India's popular destinations such as Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary can be reached from Chennai, while Maharashtra's Pench National Park and Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve are accessible by flying to Nagpur from Ahmedabad.

With its expanded flight options, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport is committed to enhancing air connectivity for Ahmedabad's residents and visitors, providing them with a wide range of travel destinations to explore this summer season.
