Venue Changes Announced for India-Bangladesh and India-England T20 Series

New Delhi,  - The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced significant changes to the venues for the upcoming T20 series between India and Bangladesh, as well as the T20I series against England. These changes come in response to various logistical and administrative requests.

The first T20 match between India and Bangladesh, initially slated for Dharamsala, has been relocated to Gwalior. This adjustment is due to ongoing renovation work in the dressing rooms by the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association, as detailed in a release from the BCCI. The match will still be held on October 6 and marks a significant moment as the first international match at the newly-built Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium. This occasion also marks a return to international cricket in Gwalior, a city that last witnessed an international match when Sachin Tendulkar famously scored a double century in an ODI against South Africa.

In another notable change, the venues for the T20I series against England have also been updated. The first T20I, originally scheduled to be played in Chennai, will now take place in Kolkata on January 22. Consequently, Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium will now host the second T20I on January 25. The BCCI cited a request from the Kolkata Police to the Cricket Association of Bengal regarding pre-Republic Day commitments as the reason for this venue change.

These adjustments ensure that logistical challenges and local commitments are adequately addressed while maintaining the integrity and schedule of the matches. Fans can look forward to these matches with the anticipation of high-quality cricket and the thrill of international competition.
