Surat APMC Elections Introduce 10 New BJP Faces Among 16 Candidates
BJP Emphasizes Youth and Diversity in Candidates for Agricultural Produce Market Committee Election
In the upcoming Surat Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) elections, scheduled for April 24, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has introduced 10 new faces among its 16 candidates, including Chauryasi BJP MLA Sandeep Desai. The candidates filed their nomination papers on Wednesday.
Sandeep Desai emphasized that the BJP is giving opportunities to younger candidates in this election, as 10 out of the 16 nominees are fresh faces, while only six are repeat candidates. Additionally, the party has ensured representation from various castes. Surat district BJP in-charge Bharat Rathore presented the mandate for the 16 candidates, with the top position going to a candidate from Maharashtra.
Three candidates over the age of 70, including APMC President Raman Abelal and Mohan Bhatia, were not given tickets by the party due to age limits. The BJP's decision to prioritize youth and diversity in its candidates highlights its commitment to fostering new perspectives in the APMC elections.
