Paris – India's young badminton sensation Lakshya Sen fell short of reaching the final in the men's singles event at the Paris Olympics 2024. Sen lost his semi-final match against Denmark's Viktor Axelsen. The match, played on Sunday, saw Axelsen overcome the Indian star with scores of 22-20, 21-14 to secure his spot in the final.

The first game was a tightly contested battle, with both Sen and Axelsen showcasing their skills and fighting for dominance. Despite a strong effort, Sen narrowly lost the first game 22-20 as Axelsen mounted a crucial comeback. In the second game, Sen initially took the lead but was unable to sustain it, eventually falling 21-14 to Axelsen.

Despite the semi-final loss, 22-year-old Lakshya Sen still has a chance to bring home a medal. He will compete for the bronze against Malaysia's Ji Jia Lee. The bronze medal match is scheduled for Monday.

Lakshya Sen made history as the first Indian male badminton player to reach the semi-finals of the Olympics. His path to the semi-final included a notable victory over Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei, defeating him 19-21, 21-15, 21-12 in the quarter-finals on Friday.
