Surat Civil Hospital Honored for Organ Donation Excellence

Surat - Surat Civil Hospital was honored by Union Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel on Indian Organ Donation Day for its outstanding contributions in the field of organ donation. The awards for 'Best Brain Stem Death Committee' and 'Public Awareness' were presented during a ceremony at Ambedkar Bhavan, New Delhi.

Surat Civil Hospital has set a benchmark in organ donation, with 59 organ donors from the hospital giving new life to 200 individuals through organ donations. The donated organs include eyes, livers, kidneys, hands, hearts, lungs, pancreases, and small intestines.

The hospital team was recognized for their efforts in raising awareness about organ donation and encouraging families of brain-dead patients to donate organs. The honored team members include Medical Superintendent Dr. Dharitriben Parmar, Dr. Parulben Vadgama, RMO Dr. Ketan Nayak, Neurophysician Dr. Haresh Parekh, and Emergency Medical Ward-E's Iqbal Kadiwala.

Dr. Dharitriben Parmar emphasized the humanitarian aspect of obtaining consent from families for organ donation in cases of brain death, highlighting its potential to save many lives. Dr. Parul Vadgama praised the awareness efforts led under the guidance of Dilipbhai Deshmukh, and Iqbal Kadiwala spoke on the importance of bridging communication between society, patients' relatives, and doctors in brain death cases.

This achievement serves as an inspiration for the entire country. Surat Civil Hospital has conducted numerous campaigns to promote organ donation awareness, resulting in Surat emerging as a leader in this field.
