Paris - In a remarkable feat, Indian shooter Swapnil Kusale won the bronze medal in the men's 50m rifle 3P event at the ongoing Paris Olympics. Kusale became the first Indian shooter to achieve a podium finish in this event, securing India's third shooting medal of the Games with a total score of 451.4 in the final.

During the qualification round held on Wednesday, Kusale finished seventh with a score of 590-38x, earning his spot in the final. His compatriot, Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar, narrowly missed the final, finishing 11th with a score of 589-33x.

In the final, China's Liu Yukun set an Olympic record in the qualification round and clinched the gold with 463.6 points, while Ukraine's S. Kulish took silver with 461.3 points.

Kusale's achievement follows another significant milestone for India in shooting, as Manu Bhaker secured bronze in the women's 10m air pistol event earlier in the competition. Bhaker, along with Sarabjot Singh, also won bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, defeating South Korea's Lee Wonho and Oh Ye Jin.

These victories highlight India's growing prowess in shooting at the Olympics, with Kusale and Bhaker leading the charge for the nation.
