Surat Diamond Burse to Open Custom Clearance House

Surat - In a significant development for the diamond industry, the Surat Diamond Burse (SDB) is set to open a custom clearance house. This initiative, approved by Mumbai International Airport Limited, is expected to bring substantial relief to diamond exporters by reducing export costs by 10 to 15 percent.

Last month, 250 offices were inaugurated in the Surat Diamond Burse, located in Khajod. The addition of the custom clearance house will make the burse fully operational. The facility will feature modern infrastructure, spanning over 40,000 square feet.

The new custom house aims to streamline the import and export processes for diamonds, making them more efficient and cost-effective. Reduced transportation and associated expenses are anticipated to significantly lower export costs, enhancing the competitiveness of Surat’s diamond industry.

Officials from the Surat Diamond Burse Committee are optimistic that this move will bolster Surat's position in the global diamond market, making it a more competitive and attractive hub for diamond trade.
