UPSC Aspirants' Tragic Deaths: Lok Sabha to Discuss Accountability and Demand Justice

New Delhi, 29 July (H.S.): On Monday, the issue of the tragic deaths of three UPSC aspirants at a coaching centre in Delhi's Old Rajinder Nagar area will be raised in the Lok Sabha by Congress MP Dr. Amar Singh. He has moved an adjournment motion demanding accountability for the deaths and has given notice for a discussion on the matter. Another Congress MP, Manickam Tagore, has also submitted an adjournment notice in the Lower House to suspend business and immediately discuss the issue of infrastructure tragedies in Delhi and the loss of lives due to it. The three young aspirants, Shreya Yadav, Tania Soni, and Navin Delvin lost their lives when water suddenly gushed into the basement of the coaching centre they were studying in.

This tragedy has highlighted the issue of unsafe construction and poor town planning in Delhi and how it is affecting the common people. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has also expressed his condolences and stated that this is a result of a combined failure of the system.

He further added that it is high time for institutions at every level to take responsibility and ensure the safety of citizens. The issue raised by Congress in Parliament sheds light on the urgent need for better infrastructure planning and accountability for tragedies caused due to negligence.
