Microsoft Server Crash Disrupts Flights at Ahmedabad Airport

Ahmedabad - The Microsoft server crash has significantly impacted airline operations, including those at Gujarat's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVIP) in Ahmedabad. Due to the technical glitch, more than nine IndiGo Airlines flights were canceled, affecting routes to Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Patna, Goa, and Chandigarh.

Passengers faced considerable issues with flight bookings and check-ins, leading airlines to issue advisories to mitigate problems. The disruption particularly impacted high-traffic routes such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata. Notably, IndiGo's flights from Mumbai to Vadodara at 8:30 pm and from Delhi at 8:35 pm were canceled. Additionally, the Delhi-bound flight from Surat at 8:50 pm was also canceled.

The server issue resulted in significant booking delays, leaving many passengers, especially those needing urgent tickets, unable to book their flights. Sources from IndiGo Airlines reported that nine flights were canceled due to the glitch. With approximately 200 to 250 flights operating daily at SVIP Airport, the technical fault led to delayed landings and take-offs, primarily due to issues with passenger check-in processes. As a contingency, manual check-ins were conducted at the airport.

In response, airlines including IndiGo, Akasa, and Vistara have issued advisories for passengers. SVIP Airport's advisory indicated that operations were affected due to the global IT glitch, impacting booking, check-in, boarding passes, and flight access. Despite these challenges, airlines are striving to manage operations efficiently and minimize delays at Ahmedabad Airport.
