CITEX 2024 to Showcase Latest Textile Innovations in Surat

The South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) will organize the 'CITEX - Surat International Textile Expo' from July 20-22, 2024, at the Surat International Exhibition and Convention Center in Sarsana. This three-day exhibition will run daily from 10 am to 7 pm.

The opening ceremony, scheduled for 10 am on July 20th, will be inaugurated by Hon'ble Union Minister of State for Textiles, India, Pabitra Margherita. Additional Textile Commissioner, Ministry of Textiles, India, S.P. Verma, will be the Guest of Honour.

SGCCI President Vijay Mevawala emphasized that the primary goal of the CITEX exhibition is to propel Surat's textile industry to the global forefront. The event will showcase a wide array of textile machinery and accessories, including airjet and water jet looms, electronic jacquard and dobby machines, digital printing machinery, and various other advanced equipment.

The latest models of airjet and waterjet machinery, predominantly cotton-based but also capable of producing viscose and polyester, will be a highlight. These machines boast a production efficiency of 95 to 96 percent. Mukesh Patel, President of Surat Techmech Federation, noted that these machines offer significantly higher production rates compared to traditional looms, with airjet machines delivering 7 to 8 times more output and water jet machines 6 to 7 times more.

Chamber Vice President Nikhil Madrasi and immediate past president Ramesh Vaghasiya reiterated the details of the inauguration ceremony, highlighting the presence of the Hon'ble Union Minister of State for Textiles, Pabitra Margherita, and Additional Textile Commissioner S.P. Verma.

Chamber's honorary secretary Nirav Mandlewala, honorary treasurer Mrinal Shukla, and exhibition chairman Bijal Jariwala added that the exhibition will display the latest airjet and waterjet machinery manufactured in India, capable of using various yarns and achieving high production efficiency.
