Karnataka judge brings together elderly couple who were heading for divorce

Mysuru, Karnataka - In a heartwarming incident, the intervention of a judge in Mysuru has saved a 35-year-old marriage of an elderly couple. The couple, a 75-year-old man and his 70-year-old wife, had three daughters who were married to the persons of their choice. However, the man disapproved of their choices and held his wife responsible for it, which created a rift between the couple. The man filed for divorce in the family court due to irreconcilable differences.

During a mega Lok Adalat program on February 11, Principal District and Sessions Judge G.S. Sangreshi counselled the couple and convinced the man to reconsider his decision. The judge highlighted that bitterness and grudges were not worth holding at the couple's age. After hearing the judge's reasoning, the man agreed to take back his petition seeking divorce. The judge's efforts have been appreciated by many, with 36 other couples also agreeing to withdraw their divorce petitions and reuniting.

The judge's intervention has shown that conflicts between couples can be resolved peacefully through discussion and understanding. Such a heartwarming incident should encourage others to follow suit and resolve their differences amicably, rather than resorting to divorce.
