Guj Govt School teacher arrested for sexually harassing minor pupil

Mahisagar, 14 July (HS): A government school physical training instructor in Gujarat's Mahisagar district has been detained on allegations of sexually harassing and threatening a 16-year-old female pupil, according to an official statement issued on Sunday.

In response to the event, a group of upset persons destroyed the high school in Ranjitpura village, Virpur taluka, on Saturday evening, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Kamalesh Vasava. Vasava said that the teacher had been repeatedly pestering the child, encouraging her to engage in physical contact and converse with him over social media.

The child ultimately confided in her family, who raised the problem with the school administrator. The police were informed, and the teacher was detained on Saturday night. Charges have been filed against the teacher under sections 75 (criminal force on a woman with the intent of disrobing or compelling her to be naked) and 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, as well as section 12 (sexual harassment) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, according to Vasava.

In addition, authorities have taken action against individuals who caused the damage to the school property.
