Tarang Mela-Cum-Exhibition in Surat Celebrates Farmer Collectivization

The FPO Mela-cum-Exhibition "Tarang Celebrating Collectivization," organized by NABARD, SFAC, and ONDC, took place from July 12th to 14th, 2024, at Vanijya Bhavan, Dayalji Ashram AC Hall, Majura Gate, Surat. The event was inaugurated by District Magistrate Dr. Saurabh Pardhi, with the presence of Director DRDA, Deputy Director Agriculture, DGM NABARD, DDM NABARD, and various other officials.

Showcasing Farmer Produce:

The fair-cum-exhibition aimed to highlight daily needs products such as organic food grains, spices, vegetables, and fruits produced by Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) across Gujarat. These FPOs represent a collective of 15,000 to 18,000 farmers, showcasing the diversity and quality of their produce.

Platform for Growth:

Tarang Mela provided a unique platform for everyday shopping for the common people, offering a wide range of organic and locally produced items. More importantly, it facilitated connections between farmers and supply chain intermediaries such as mandis and wholesalers, thereby helping farmers expand their businesses and reach a broader market.

Empowering Farmers:

By organizing such events, NABARD, SFAC, and ONDC aim to empower farmers through collectivization and enhanced market access. These initiatives are designed to support sustainable agriculture and improve the livelihoods of farmers by promoting their products and creating new business opportunities.
