Ruturaj Gaikwad Climbs to Top Ten in ICC T20I Rankings
New Delhi - India's top-order batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad has reached the top ten in the ICC Men's T20I batting rankings, following a stellar performance in the second T20I against Zimbabwe.
Ruturaj Gaikwad's unbeaten 77 off 47 balls in India's 100-run victory over Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club propelled him from 20th to seventh in the rankings. Gaikwad's remarkable rise is part of a broader trend of impressive performances by Indian cricketers.
Rinku Singh and Abhishek Sharma also made significant gains. Rinku, who was a reserve player in the recent T20 World Cup, moved up to 39th after his quickfire 48 off 22 balls. Abhishek Sharma, despite a duck in his debut, soared to 75th after a scintillating century in the second match.
In the bowlers' rankings, leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi climbed to 14th with six wickets in the first two matches. Zimbabwe's Brian Bennett jumped to 96th following two aggressive innings, while fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani rose to 55th after his pivotal role in Zimbabwe's first T20I win.
Other notable changes include Adam Zampa, Fazalhaq Farooqi, and Mahesh Theekshana making gains in the bowlers' rankings. Meanwhile, India's Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav dropped due to their absence from the Zimbabwe series.
In the all-rounder rankings, Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka took the top spot, with India's Hardik Pandya returning to second place. Washington Sundar entered the top 50, thanks to his contributions with both bat and ball in the Zimbabwe series.
