PM Modi Takes Off to Moscow: Strengthening Ties with Russia

New Delhi, 8 July (H.S.): On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to fly to Moscow for a two-day visit, which has been deemed as "very significant" by India's ambassador to Russia Vinay Kumar.

This will be PM Modi's first visit to Russia since the country's invasion of Ukraine, which the Kremlin has called a "special military operation." During the visit, the two leaders are expected to discuss developments in their bilateral relationship as well as other regional issues of mutual interest. Kumar emphasized the importance of this visit, given the three-year gap since the last summit between the Russian President and the Indian Prime Minister. The relationship between India and Russia has expanded in various areas, including energy resources and trade, making this visit even more crucial for exchanging views on these developments.

This will be the 22nd Annual Bilateral Summit between the two countries and will include a private lunch hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin and interactions with the Indian community in Russia.

On Tuesday, PM Modi will also lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and visit an exhibition venue. While it is difficult to predict the exact topics that will be discussed between PM Modi and President Putin, Kumar believes that it will cover a wide range of issues that are of mutual interest to both countries.
