Sikandar Raza Praises India After T20 Defeat

Harare - In the second T20 match of the five-match series on Sunday, Zimbabwe's captain Sikandar Raza praised the Indian cricket team for their stellar performance. He remarked, "The world champions will eventually play like world champions," following Zimbabwe's 100-run defeat at Harare Sports Club.

India's triumph was spearheaded by Abhishek Sharma's explosive century and disciplined bowling. The Shubman Gill-led team posted a formidable 234 for 2 in their 20 overs. Sharma's knock of 100 off 47 balls, including seven fours and eight sixes, was complemented by Ruturaj Gaikwad’s unbeaten 77 off 47 balls, and Rinku Singh's rapid 48 off 22 balls.

In response, Zimbabwe managed only 134 in 18.4 overs. Wesley Madhevere was the top scorer with 43 runs, while Luke Jongwe added 33. For India, Avesh Khan and Mukesh Kumar claimed three wickets each, with Ravi Bishnoi and Washington Sundar contributing two and one respectively.

Reflecting on the match, Raza highlighted fielding errors and praised Blessing Muzarabani’s rapid progress, noting his potential to become a top player. Despite Zimbabwe’s struggles, Raza emphasized their positive shot selection, attributing many issues to inexperience.
