BMU Hosts Seminar on New Criminal Laws

Surat, July 5, 2024 — Bhagwan Mahavir University (BMU) in collaboration with Mahavir College of Legal Education and Althan Police Station, hosted a seminar to raise awareness about three significant new criminal laws enacted in 2023: the Indian Evidence Act 2023, the Indian Civil Protection Act 2023, and the Indian Judicial Code 2023. The event took place at BMU's campus today from 10 am onwards.

The seminar featured prominent speakers, including Sapna Pathak, Principal in Charge of the Law Department, Shilpi Joshi, Head of the Law Department, and Surat Court Advocate Abhijeet Shethia. They provided comprehensive insights into the new laws, which came into effect on July 1, 2024.

The event was graced by chief guests such as ACP J.R. Desai, Advocate Abhijeet Shethia, N.H. Brahmbhatt, Lady PSI G.V. Chaudhary from Althan Police Station, B.B. Patel also from Althan Police Station, and Dr. Vijay Matwal, Registrar of Bhagwan Mahavir University.

Teachers from the Law Department and students from various departments attended in large numbers. The seminar aimed to educate students about the critical provisions of the new laws and their potential impact on citizens. Through detailed discussions, participants gained a deeper understanding of the legal changes and their significance for the justice system in India.
