Dravid's Emotional Farewell as India's Head Coach

New Delhi - After securing the ICC T20 World Cup, Rahul Dravid concluded his tenure as head coach of the Indian cricket team with a heartfelt farewell speech. Addressing the title-winning squad, Dravid thanked the players and support staff for their contributions and dedication.

In a video released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Dravid expressed his gratitude, saying, "I don't have words to say, but I just want to say thank you all for making me a part of this incredible memory. I think you all will remember these moments. It's not about the runs or wickets; it's about these unforgettable moments. I couldn't be more proud of you guys."

Dravid acknowledged the sacrifices made by the players and their families, emphasizing the collective effort behind the team's success. He also praised captain Rohit Sharma, who persuaded him to remain with the team after their defeat in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup final. "Thank you very much, Rohit, for calling me in November and asking me to continue working. It has been an honor and a pleasure to work with all of you," Dravid said.

He extended his appreciation to the BCCI for their support, stating, "Every one of us comes through a system. Every one of us comes through an organization that gives us the opportunity to grow and play. You did a great job for us, so thank you very much."

As Dravid steps down, Gautam Gambhir and WV Raman are seen as leading contenders for the head coach position. The new head coach will assume duties during the upcoming Sri Lanka tour in late July. Meanwhile, National Cricket Academy (NCA) head VVS Laxman will accompany the new team to Zimbabwe for the T20I series starting July 6.
