Surat Fire Department Cracks Down on Hotels Violating Safety Norms

Surat – In the wake of the recent fire at TRP Game Zone in Rajkot, the Surat Municipal Corporation's fire department has launched a campaign to enforce stringent fire safety regulations across the city. As part of this initiative, three hotels near Surat Railway Station were raided and their basements and banquet halls sealed.

According to fire department sources, Hotel Savera, Hotel D Glens, and Hotel Diamond Plaza lacked adequate fire safety equipment. The hotel owners had illegally converted basements into accommodation facilities and repurposed banquet halls as restaurants, placing tables and chairs without proper fire safety measures.

Fire officials highlighted the absence of safe evacuation routes in these basements and banquet halls, posing a significant risk to the large number of patrons frequenting these establishments. In case of a fire, the potential for a catastrophic incident was high due to the lack of proper escape routes.

The fire department has issued notices to the negligent hotel owners, warning them of impending legal action. Officials have committed to taking stringent measures against all establishments in the city found in violation of fire safety regulations.

This crackdown serves as a warning to other hotel owners in Surat, urging them to comply with all fire safety standards immediately. Non-compliance will result in severe consequences, reinforcing the city’s commitment to safeguarding its residents and visitors from fire hazards.
