Vadodara : Youth and Cousin Duped of Rs 4.71 Lakh in Railway Job Scam
Fraudster promises jobs, takes cash, valuables; police complaint filed.
An alarming incident of fraud has surfaced in Ataladara village, Vadodara, where a youth and his maternal cousin were duped of Rs 4.71 lakh in cash, an Apple 6 mobile, a bike, and other items on the false promise of railway jobs. Despite repeated requests, no jobs were provided, prompting the victim to lodge a police complaint.
Narendra Dhanshyambhai Parmar, a resident of Ataladara village, earns his living by running a DJ business named Khodal Sound. He recounted that while playing DJ in Padra, he met Mobashir Sheikh, who claimed to undertake various tender works for the railways. Sheikh visited Parmar's house and mentioned that DJs were needed for railway events and retirements, and encouraged Parmar to fill out a tender for a five-year contract. Sheikh also promised Parmar and his cousin jobs in the railways if they were interested.
Sheikh arranged a meeting at Vadodara railway station, where he collected Parmar's Aadhaar card, PAN card, and photo. He then informed Parmar that the job process was complete and demanded Rs 11,000 online for further processing. Parmar transferred the money, and Sheikh subsequently claimed that the tender was approved, and railway jobs were available for Parmar and his cousin Vishal.
Under this pretense, Sheikh swindled a total of Rs 4.71 lakh, along with an Apple 6 mobile, a bike, and other items from Parmar and his cousin. Realizing they had been deceived, Parmar filed a complaint with the Atladra police. Based on Parmar's complaint, the police have registered a case against the fraudster and initiated actions to apprehend him.
The incident highlights the need for vigilance against job scams and underscores the importance of verifying the authenticity of job offers and recruiters.
