CBI special team reaches Patna to investigate NEET paper leak case
Patna, June 24 (HS): CBI has started immediate action to investigate other irregularities including paper leak in NEET-UG exam-2024. On Saturday night, the Central Government handed over the investigation of this matter to the CBI. On Sunday, the CBI registered a case and formed two special teams for investigation. One of these teams reached Patna on Sunday evening.
According to the information received from CBI sources, the team has contacted the EOU of Bihar. Documents related to NEET paper leak and the investigation report done so far have been sought from the EOU. The CBI team will start its action after investigating all the documents.
Earlier, in the information released by the CBI, it has been told that the CBI has registered a criminal case related to the irregularities in the NEET exam on the basis of a written complaint by the Director of Higher Education, Government of India. The NEET (UG) 2024 exam was conducted by the NTA on 5 May 2024 at 4,750 centers in 571 cities in which more than 23 lakh candidates appeared.
The FIR states that some isolated incidents took place in some states during the conduct of the NEET (UG) 2024 exam. Therefore, the Ministry of Education has requested the CBI to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the irregularities. The CBI has been asked to find out the conspiracy, cheating, destruction of evidence by candidates, institutions and middlemen, irregularities in the NEET exam. If people associated with the NTA are involved in this matter, then their role should also be ascertained.
The CBI has started the investigation by registering a criminal case. The CBI has formed two special teams. Special teams of CBI have been sent to Patna in Bihar and Godhra in Gujarat.
