18th Mumbai International Film Festival Ends on a Grand Note
Over 12,000 delegates attended, 314 films screened, and unprecedented participation marked the festival's success.
The 18th Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) concluded on a grand note, attracting over 12,000 delegates and showcasing a total of 314 films. This latest edition saw unprecedented participation, making it a resounding success. Attendees engaged in various screenings, discussions, and masterclasses, with films from 59 countries screened in cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, and Pune.
Festival Director and Managing Director of NFDC, Prithul Kumar, expressed his joy over the tremendous response. "The participation of such a large number of people indicates a growing interest in documentaries, short films, and animation. The success of MIFF is due to the excellent organization and efforts to set new standards for future editions," he remarked.
The festival was graced by notable personalities like Richie Mehta, Santosh Sivan, Daniela Walker, Ketan Mehta, Tushar Hiranandani, Alphons Roy, and T.S. Nagabharana. The 18th MIFF received praise for its superb arrangements, including tight security, ease of accessibility, and effective measures against rain. Volunteer training and well-placed ramps enhanced the overall experience for participants.
A new initiative, Docu Bazaar, was introduced for the first time at the festival. Out of 63 entries, 16 projects were selected for co-production, with 108 projects viewed live in the viewing room. Fifteen producers expressed interest in producing documentary films, short films, and animation films, marking a significant step towards fostering new filmmaking talent.
The festival's success highlights the increasing enthusiasm for diverse film formats and the strong organizational efforts that made the event a memorable experience for all attendees.
