Gujarat State to Recruit 7,500 Permanent Teachers
Three-month timeline set for comprehensive teacher recruitment
Ahmedabad : In a significant move to bolster the education system, the state government has announced the recruitment of 7,500 permanent teachers over the next three months. This decision, taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar, aims to fill vacancies in granted schools based on the merit of candidates who have passed the Teacher Aptitude Test-Secondary (TAT-Secondary) and Teacher Aptitude Test-Higher Secondary (TAT-Higher Secondary).
Government spokesperson and minister Rishikesh Patel, following the cabinet meeting, stated that the recruitment will cover both secondary and higher secondary levels. Specifically, the process will involve 3,500 candidates from TET-1 (Teacher Eligibility Test-1) and 4,000 candidates from TET-2 (Teacher Eligibility Test-2). In TET-1, 500 candidates will be placed in government secondary schools (class 9 and 10) and 3,000 in granted schools. Meanwhile, TET-2 will see 750 candidates recruited for government higher secondary schools (class 11 and 12) and 3,250 for granted schools.
Patel emphasized that the entire recruitment process, including the selection of Gyan Sahayaks based on merit, will be completed within three months. He also highlighted that recently, 1,500 HMAT principals were appointed in granted schools and that 18,382 teachers have been permanently recruited over the past decade.
This initiative marks a crucial step in strengthening the educational infrastructure and ensuring quality education for students across the state.
