Nalanda is value, mantra, pride, saga: Prime Minister

Patna/Nalanda, June 19 (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new campus of Nalanda University in Rajgir, Bihar on Wednesday. In his inaugural speech on this occasion, Modi said that the way Bihar is moving forward on the path of development to bring back its glory, this campus of Nalanda is an inspiration for that. Nalanda is an identity, an honor. Nalanda is a value, a mantra, a pride, a saga.

The Prime Minister said that Nalanda is the proclamation of the truth that books may burn in the flames of fire but the flames of fire cannot erase knowledge. On this occasion, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and ambassadors of 17 countries and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, Governor Vishwanath Rajendra Arlekar, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Chaudhary participated in the program.

The Prime Minister said that we all know that Nalanda was once a living centre of India's tradition and identity. This is India's thinking about education. Education shapes us, gives us ideas and gives it shape. In ancient Nalanda, children were not admitted on the basis of their identity and nationality. Youth from every country and every section came here to study. In this new campus of Nalanda University, we have to strengthen the same ancient system again in a modern form and I am happy to see that many students have started coming here from many countries of the world today. Students have started coming here from many countries of the world. Students from more than 20 countries are studying in Nalanda. What a beautiful symbol of the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.
