Indian Shotgun Team Announced for Paris 2024 Olympics

New Delhi -  The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) announced on Tuesday the Indian shotgun team for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Prithviraj Tondaiman will compete in the men's trap, while Rajeshwari Kumari will represent India in the women's trap. Anantjit Singh Naruka has been selected as the sole male skeet shooter, with Raiza Dhillon and Maheshwari Chauhan participating in the women's skeet events. This selection completes the five quotas allocated to the Indian shotgun team.

In addition, Maheshwari and Anantjit will compete in the skeet mixed team event, making its debut at the Paris Games. Remarkably, all five athletes will be making their first Olympic appearances.

NRAI Secretary General Sultan Singh commented on the selection process, highlighting the tough competition for places. He noted that recent performances at the Lonato World Cup could have influenced the final team. "We believe we have a great shotgun team, which has achieved the highest ever placings for India in any sport. A second Olympic medal in this discipline is a strong possibility," he stated.

Singh also mentioned that women's trap shooter Shreyasi Singh's name has been approved by the committee, and the NRAI has requested a quota swap from the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF). Her participation will be confirmed pending ISSF's approval.
