Lakhs take holy dip of faith on Ganga Dussehra

Ballia, 16 June (HS): On the occasion of Ganga Dussehra on Sunday, a wonderful confluence of faith was seen at different ghats of the holy river Ganga passing through the district. The largest crowd gathered at Mahavir Ghat adjacent to the district headquarters, where people also worshiped Ganga after taking a dip in the holy river.

On the occasion of Ganga Dussehra festival, a procession of people started towards the Ganga ghats from Sunday morning itself. There was a traffic jam for hours on the road leading to Mahavir Ghat. Due to its proximity, Mahavir Ghat adjacent to the city was most crowded. Apart from this, people were also seen bathing at other ghats of the district including Haibatpur, Shivrampur. The crowd that had gathered since early morning increased as the day progressed. The women did special worship of Ganga after bathing. After this, Aarti of Ganga was performed. The girls accompanying the women were seen taking selfies at the Ganga ghats.

On the other hand, after taking a holy dip in the Ganga, people also visited and worshiped in the major temples of the city. The crowd at Bhrigu Temple and Baba Baleshwarnath Temple was such that long queues were formed. In view of Ganga Dussehra, security arrangements were also made at various ghats. Similarly, a huge crowd of devotees had gathered at Ujiyar Ghat and Gaighat to take bath in the Ganga.
