SGCCI Inaugural Function Emphasizes Industry Growth

The 84th inaugural function of the South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce (SGCCI) was held on Sunday at the Convention Center in Sarsana, chaired by Union Jalshakti Minister C.R. Patil. During the event, the newly elected President of SGCCI, Vijay Mevawala, and Vice President, Nikhil Madrasi, officially assumed their roles. The function was also graced by the presence of Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi and Minister of State for Education Prafulbhai Panseria.

Favorable Environment for Industries

Union Minister Patil highlighted Surat's leading role in industrial development, crediting the state government's policies, a favorable business environment, and timely decisions. He emphasized that industries are crucial for employment, providing new opportunities and encouragement to the youth.

Water Plan for Surat for the Next 50 Years

Minister Patil discussed the Magdalla Tapi River Barrage Scheme, designed to meet Surat's water needs for the next 50 years. He noted that Surat is set to be the first city globally with such a long-term water supply plan and assured measures to prevent future flooding.

Efforts to Prevent Fraud and Provide Justice to Small Traders

Minister Harsh Sanghvi praised SGCCI's efforts in encouraging youth entrepreneurship and highlighted ongoing improvements to textile industry policies. He mentioned that the PM Mitra Park will be a landmark project for the sector's development and stressed the importance of preventing fraud and ensuring justice for small traders through cooperation with the Chamber.

Priority to Environmental Protection

Minister Prafulbhai Panseria emphasized the city's commitment to environmental protection alongside industrial growth. He acknowledged the significant contributions of Surat's diamond and textile industries to environmental conservation.

The event was attended by notable figures, including MP Mukeshbhai Dalal, Priyavrat Mafatlal of Mafatlal Industries Limited, Debi Prasad of Garden Silk Mills & MCPI Private Limited, and Sandeep Engineer, Senior Vice President, Chairman, and MD of Astral Limited, along with other prominent industrialists, officers, and chamber representatives.
