Supreme Court notice to petitioners in all HCs on NTA's demand
New Delhi, June 14 (HS): The Supreme Court has issued notice to all petitioners of concerned High Court on the demand of National Testing Agency (NTA) to transfer the petitions pending in different High Courts across the country on the NEET case to the Supreme Court and demand simultaneous hearing. The vacation bench headed by Justice Vikram Nath ordered the next hearing of the case on July 8.
During the hearing, advocate Vardhman Kaushik appearing on behalf of NTA said that petitions have been filed against this examination in seven High Courts of the country. If any order is issued after separate hearing, then confusion will spread among the students due to those orders. Therefore, the petitions pending in all the High Courts should be transferred to the Supreme Court.
NTA had told the Supreme Court on June 13 that after the meeting held on June 12, 1563 candidates with grace marks have been ordered to take the exam again. All the score cards issued to 1563 candidates will be cancelled. They will be given the option of re-examination. The re-examination for these candidates will be conducted on 23rd June.
The Supreme Court had said on 11th June that the dignity of the examination has been affected. In such a situation, NTA will have to answer. However, the Supreme Court refused to stop the counseling for the time being. In the petition filed in the Supreme Court, a demand has been made to get the entire matter investigated by the SIT.
