Sumul Dairy Follows Amul's Lead, Raises Milk Prices in Surat
Consumers Face Increased Costs as Sumul Dairy Hikes Milk Prices by ₹2 per Liter
Surat, India – Sumul Dairy has announced a price increase for various milk brands, adding to the burden on consumers already grappling with inflation. Milk prices have been raised by ₹2 per liter, following a similar price increase by Amul Dairy. However, the price of Sumul's 250ml milk bag remains unchanged.
This price increase comes after Amul Dairy had already raised their milk prices, but Sumul Dairy, the largest milk distributor in South Gujarat and the Surat Tapi district, initially did not follow suit. The recent announcement of the price hike through a published circular now leaves consumers to face the additional impact of inflation.
According to the details of the price increase, the cost of a 500ml pouch of cow's milk has risen by ₹1, affecting products such as Amul Shakti, Amul Gold, Amul Taj, and Amul Slim Trim, distributed by Sumul Dairy. This results in a ₹2 increase in the total price of one liter of milk. The prices of 250ml milk pouches and 500ml buttermilk pouches remain the same. However, the cost of 6 liters of buttermilk has increased by ₹6.
