RaGa utilizes 'NEET exam row' to corner NDA-Govt, assures to raise issue in Parl

New Delhi, 9 June (HS): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attacked Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi on Sunday over the NEET-UG medical entrance test controversy, claiming that suspected anomalies in the exam had destroyed more than 24 lakh students even before he takes oath for a third term in office.

Gandhi pledged students around the country that he would be their voice in Parliament, raising topics important to their future. Following claims of mark inflation in the NEET-UG medical entrance test, the National Testing Agency (NTA) said on Saturday that the education ministry has formed a four-member panel to investigate the grace marks issued to over 1,500 applicants.

Gandhi noted in a Hindi post on X that Narendra Modi has yet to take oath, and that anomalies in the NEET test have destroyed over 24 lakh students and their families.

Six students from a single exam center received maximum scores, while many others received results that are theoretically impossible, but the administration has always denied the idea of a paper leak, according to the former Congress head.

He said that the Congress had devised a strong strategy to combat the 'paper leak business', which was operating in collusion with the education mafia and government apparatus.

"We promised in our platform to provide students 'freedom from paper leak' by enacting legislation," he added.

Today, "I guarantee all students in the country that I will be your voice in Parliament, raising matters important to your future," Gandhi stated. Youth have shown trust in the INDIA bloc, which would not let their voices to be silenced, he stated.

The NTA has denied any anomalies, stating that modifications to NCERT texts and grace marks for lost time at examination centers were among the reasons pupils scored higher. The problem has taken a political turn, with various parties questioning the validity of the national test for medical courses. On Friday, the Congress sought a high-level probe into "irregularities" in NEET for medical courses, accusing the BJP of defrauding young people and jeopardizing their future.
