Congress Convenes: Strategic Meeting to Tackle Election Results & Plan Future Actions

Delhi, 8 June (H.S): The Congress party has called for a Working Committee meeting today to discuss the results of the recent Lok Sabha elections and plan their future actions. The meeting, chaired by party president Mallikarjun Kharge, will take place at the Congress headquarters on Saturday. In the elections, the Congress emerged as the second-largest party, greatly improving its seat count to 99 from 52 in the 2019 polls. This result allows them to assume the role of Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha after a gap of ten years.

The agenda of the meeting is expected to include discussions on the election outcomes and the party's strategy moving forward. There is also speculation that some members of the party will propose Rahul Gandhi to lead both the party and the opposition in Lok Sabha. This issue is likely to be raised during the CWC meeting, which serves as the highest decision-making body of the Congress. Top leaders like Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will participate in these discussions, as well as other senior leaders.

With a strong presence in Parliament, the Congress aims to challenge the government on important issues like inflation and unemployment in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
