Ambaji Temple's Gold Worth Rs 122 Crore Invested in Monetization Scheme

Palanpur – The renowned Shaktipeeth Arasuri Ambaji Temple in Gujarat has made a significant investment of 175 kg of gold, valued at Rs 122 crore, in the Gold Monetization Scheme. This gold, received as donations from devotees, is expected to generate interest that will be used to enhance the facilities for visitors at the temple.

The Central Government's Gold Monetization Scheme aims to mobilize gold held by the public and institutions, offering interest in return. The Ambaji Temple Devasthan Trust has capitalized on this scheme by melting gold ornaments offered to the deity since 1960 and converting them into gold biscuits. With approval from the state government, the temple trust invested 171 kg of gold in the scheme through Bank of Baroda.

Kaushik Modi, Additional Collector and Administrator of Ambaji Temple, reported that the temple also possesses around 6,000 kg of silver, worth approximately Rs 50 crore. While this silver has not yet been invested in the monetization scheme, plans for its valuation and subsequent investment are underway, expected to be completed within 15 days.

This strategic financial management by the temple trust not only preserves the value of the donations but also ensures continuous improvement of the temple's facilities, benefiting the thousands of devotees who visit annually.
