Four Indian students drown in Russia

St Petersburg, 07 June (HS): Four Indian students drowned in a river near Saint Petersburg in Russia. The students were pursuing education in medicine. Indian Embassy in Russia confirmed the deaths and are coordinating with Russian authorities to send their bodies to their relatives as soon as possible.

Two boys and two girls between 18 and 20 years old were studying at Novgorod State University, PTI reported. The Russian media reported that a female student got into trouble when they waded out from the beach on the Volkhov River. Four of her friends tried to save her. In the attempt, the girls and three others drowned. One boy was rescued by local people. He was immediately shifted to a hospital. The identity of the students was not declared.
