UP girl shot for refusing to talk, accused absconding

Jhansi, 6 June (HS): Crime is suddenly spreading its wings in Jhansi. Till now, even after paralyzing more than half a hundred criminals, the criminals are fearless. A case of firing by a mad youth after molesting a girl student has come to light in Sadar police station area. A young man crazy in unrequited love committed the crime. He stopped the student returning after giving the paper at gunpoint and forced himself on her.

When the student folded her hands and requested him to leave her, the fearless criminal got angry and shot her. It was fortunate that the bullet missed the student and she narrowly escaped death. After committing the crime the accused fled from the spot. Fortunately, this entire incident was captured in a CCTV camera, now its footage has surfaced, which is said to be from Bhatta village of Sadar Bazar police station area of Jhansi. After the matter came to notice, the police started investigating the matter.

A 20-year-old student living in Sadar police station area is studying BA second year in a degree college. Her father told the police that around 6:15 pm on Thursday evening, his daughter was returning home after giving her exam. She reached Bhatta village by auto and got down and started going home through the street. Then Rohit, a resident of Bhatta village, stopped her by showing a gun and started asking her why she did not talk. When the student refused to talk, the accused used force and shot her. It was fortunate that the bullet missed the student's chest and she was not seriously injured. After this the accused absconded.

The student's mother told that the accused Rohit has been harassing her daughter for the last two years. Even when the daughter was studying in 12th class, he had molested her. At that time, even after reprimanding his family members, his behaviour did not improve. Rohit used to roam around the house every day and even tried to stop her daughter on the way. Even on Thursday, he had stopped the student while going to college. The accused has also threatened his younger brother, due to which the entire family is scared.

People remained silent spectators on the road: CCTV footage of the incident with the student has gone viral, in which the youth is pulling the student by holding her hand and the student is trying to escape from him. In the video, many people are seen coming and going from the road at the time of the incident, but no one came forward to save the student. Despite there being a dense settlement nearby, no one showed the courage to save the student. Everyone became a silent spectator and watched the audacity of the accused. In this matter, Sadar police station in-charge Sarita Mishra said that the medical examination of the student has been done and a case is being registered on the basis of her father's complaint and the matter is being investigated. Soon the accused will be arrested. In this case, CO City Rajesh Rai said that investigation has started in the matter. The whole truth will not be revealed until the accused is arrested. Everything will become clear only after his arrest.
