Security Breach at Rajkot Airport Prompts High-Level Investigation

Rajkot - A significant security lapse at Rajkot Airport, in which a rickshaw puller managed to break through the gate and enter the helipad area, has prompted an investigation by high-ranking officials from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The Director and Joint Director of the CISF arrived from Delhi on Tuesday to conduct a two-day inquiry, the findings of which will be submitted to the Airport Authority of India (AAI). Strict action is expected to be taken against those found responsible for the breach.

During their investigation at Rajkot Airport, the CISF officials will examine how the rickshaw puller was able to access the restricted area, his intentions, and any contributing factors. The probe will also include a review of CCTV footage and an assessment of security personnel deployment at the time of the incident.

Based on the findings of the report, disciplinary action may be taken against officials from both the CISF and AAI. In the meantime, security measures at the airport have been heightened, with barricades installed from the entry gate to restricted areas and a ban on three- and four-wheelers near the VIP gate by the runway.

Airport sources reveal that previous CISF proposals to enhance security measures at the airport gate, such as implementing a zigzag system, creating speed breakers, and automatically checking vehicles entering from outside, were not approved. The investigating officers are expected to address these unimplemented proposals with higher authorities within the CISF.
