Surat Crime Branch Busts Chikligar Gang Targeting Industrial Areas
Three Members Arrested; Gang Linked to 10 Crimes Across Multiple Police Stations
Surat - The Surat City Crime Branch has successfully dismantled the notorious Chikligar gang, known for stealing four-wheeler tempos and targeting industrial areas to steal scrap metal and batteries. The arrests have led to the resolution of 10 crimes in various police stations across the city.
Acting on a tip-off, Surat Crime Branch personnel conducted a raid and pursued the Chikligar gang as they attempted to flee after stealing iron plates in a Bolero Pickup Tampa at GIDC. The authorities apprehended Madhusingh alias Amarsingh Tejsingh Tank, Deepsingh alias Deepu Gujaratsingh Kalani, and Rohit Sudhir Ramani. Recovered from the suspects were a Bolero pickup worth Rs 3 lakh, a tempo worth Rs 1.25 lakh, an iron centering plate worth Rs 1.09 lakh, and two mobile phones, totaling Rs 5.37 lakh in value.
Upon interrogation, it was revealed that the gang members stole tempos and Bolero pickups parked in various residential areas around the city, typically around 4 am. They then proceeded to break into closed mills, scrap godowns, and electrical shops within industrial areas, stealing scrap four-wheelers and large batteries. The stolen goods were later distributed among scrap owners, while the stolen four-wheelers were abandoned near Sachin, Palsana, and Bhestan railway stations.
