Employees Stage Fire Drama After Rs 34.6 Lakh Theft in Surat

Surat - In a startling incident, a major theft has been uncovered at the Blue Dart Parcel Service Center located in the Udhna area of Surat. The employees involved staged a fire to cover up their crime. Prompt action by the police led to the unraveling of the entire plot and the arrest of three suspects.

The incident took place at the parcel service center, situated opposite Pandesara Daksheshwar Mahadev Temple. The accused employees made away with cash and valuables totaling Rs 34,63,526. To erase any evidence of their theft, they set the center ablaze.

Upon receiving the information, Udhna police swiftly arrived at the scene and began their investigation. Suspicion arose due to the lack of burnt items at the site and inconsistencies in the statements provided by the accused.

Through intensive questioning and gathering evidence, the police uncovered that the fire was a staged act intended to destroy proof of the theft. The accused have been identified as Gopal Vasudev Banisipi, Badrubhai Bhukan, and Zakir Muhammad Ali Syed. Zakir, who worked as the supervisor at the center, orchestrated the theft with the assistance of Gopal, a security guard, and Badrubhai, who had been employed just two days prior.

The police have successfully recovered Rs 35 lakh in cash, 40 mobile phones, DVRs, and laptops from the accused. Further investigation revealed that these individuals were also involved in thefts amounting to over Rs 40 lakh in the Athwa area. The police are continuing their investigation to track down any additional suspects involved in the crimes.

This swift and effective police action has brought a sense of relief to the community and serves as a warning to others who might contemplate similar crimes.
