Uttarakhand Police Arrests Gujarat Man for ₹1 Crore Cyber Fraud
Accused used fake websites to deceive investors in stock market scam
Dehradun : In a significant crackdown on cyber fraud, Uttarakhand Police have arrested a man from Gujarat for defrauding over ₹1 crore through fake investment schemes. The accused created fraudulent websites mimicking legitimate stock trading companies to deceive unsuspecting investors.
Under the direction of Director General of Police (DGP) Abhinav Kumar, Uttarakhand Police are intensifying efforts against cyber fraudsters to deliver justice to victims. Recently, a case was reported at the Cyber Crime Police Station, Dehradun, where an unknown individual contacted a Rishikesh resident through calls and WhatsApp messages. Posing as representatives of a reputed trading company, the fraudsters convinced the victim to invest in the stock market, promising substantial returns.
The fraudsters gained the victim’s trust by sending various links and setting up a trading account. Through multiple transactions, they siphoned off a total of ₹1 crore 39 lakh 78 thousand. Based on the victim's complaint, a case was registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station, Dehradun. Senior Superintendent of Police (STF) Ayush Agarwal assigned the investigation to Inspector Vijay Bharti of the Cyber Police Station.
Following a thorough investigation, the police team arrested the 47-year-old accused at Kamarej Chowkdi, Surat. The accused, residing at 673, Street Number A3, Baraj Nandani Residency Kamarej, Surat, was found in possession of a mobile phone, Aadhar card, PAN card, blank cheque, bank deposit slip, and an empty purse.
The Uttarakhand Police continue to take strict actions against cyber fraudsters, ensuring that justice is served to those affected by such scams.
