13 Dead, 40 Injured in Tractor-Trolley Accident in Rajgarh

Bhopal – In a tragic accident, 13 people lost their lives and 40 were injured when a tractor-trolley carrying wedding guests overturned near Piplodi, Rajgarh district, Madhya Pradesh, on Sunday night. The Rajgarh Collector, Harsh Dixit, confirmed the fatalities.

As per the agency report, the accident occurred around 9:30 PM, approximately 30 km from Rajgarh district headquarters. The wedding procession, hailing from Motipura village in Jhalawar district, Rajasthan, was en route to Kulampura village in Rajgarh district when the vehicle veered off the road and fell into a ditch, overturning in the process. At the time, the tractor-trolley was carrying about 70 people.

Nearby villagers rushed to the scene, rescuing those trapped under the overturned trolley and notifying the authorities. Over seven ambulances were dispatched to transport the injured to the district hospital. Four critically injured individuals were later referred to Hamidia Hospital in Bhopal.

Collector Harsh Dixit, Superintendent of Police Aditya Mishra, and other top officials visited the accident site and the district hospital to oversee the rescue operations and inquire about the condition of the injured. State Minister Narayan Singh also visited the hospital late at night to ensure proper treatment for the injured.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the accident. Mamta, a woman who was part of the wedding procession, stated that the driver was drunk, leading to the tragic incident. Villagers initially rescued those trapped, but the severely buried victims were extricated with the help of a JCB.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav expressed deep sorrow over the incident, highlighting the untimely loss of lives. He stated that the state government is coordinating with the Rajasthan government and local authorities to provide all necessary assistance.

SP Aditya Mishra confirmed that the deceased have been identified and that coordination with Jhalawar police is ongoing to manage the aftermath of this devastating accident.
