BCCI to Reward IPL Groundsmen and Curators with Rs 25 Lakh Each
Ground staff at additional venues to receive Rs 10 lakh each, announces Jay Shah
New Delhi — The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah announced on Monday that groundsmen and curators at the 10 regular IPL venues will receive Rs 25 lakh each, while those at the three additional venues will get Rs 10 lakh.
The 17th edition of the IPL concluded on Sunday, with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) winning their third title by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by eight wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
“Our unsung heroes of the successful T20 season are the incredible ground staff who worked tirelessly to provide great pitches even in difficult weather conditions,” Shah wrote on Twitter. “As a token of our appreciation, groundsmen and curators at the 10 regular IPL venues will receive Rs 25 lakh each, and those at the three additional venues will receive Rs 10 lakh each. Thank you for your dedication and hard work!”
This year’s IPL was played across 13 venues, with Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, and Rajasthan Royals adding an additional home venue to their schedules. Delhi played some matches in Visakhapatnam besides the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, Punjab played in Dharamshala besides Mullanpur, while Rajasthan chose Guwahati as its second home ground after Jaipur.
