Bijnor cops return £10k, lost purse to NRI sisters

Bijnor, 21 May (HS): Kotwali Dehat police station of Bijnor district found the stolen purse and within a few hours and returned it to the NRI sisters. Its admirer sisters said that Bijnor police works faster than England cops.

The case is of police station Kotwali rural area, where three sisters who had come to visit India from England, stayed at a dhaba, in whose purse there were about £10,000 (10 lakh rupees) along with two expensive mobile phones and it was worth ?1 lakh. The three sisters Sushma Sharma, Rajkumari and Kirti live in West Midlands, England. Recently, she had come to Hoshiarpur, Punjab to visit her elder sister, who was going from Haridwar to Kaichi Dham in Nainital.

They stopped their cab for tea and water at Saini Dhaba located on Dehradun Nainital Highway in Kotwali Dehat police station area. Sushma's bag went missing yesterday around 3:30 pm. Police station in-charge Ravinder Vashishtha reached the spot, investigation revealed that a pilgrim bus was parked at the dhaba and the bag had gone in the same bus.

Taking swift action, the police scanned the CCTV footage of Puraini toll plaza and found the bus number in the footage. Based on the number, the police obtained the address of the owner. After contacting his number, the name and phone number of the driver was found, only then the driver was talked to. The police stopped the bus at Chhajlat police station in Moradabad district, where the station in-charge reached Chhajlat and recovered the bag from the bus. Yesterday at around 7 pm, the police brought the bags and handed them over to the NRI women.

Police station in-charge Ravindra Vashishtha told that the bag was kept on the table of the dhaba, some pilgrim had kept it with him considering it to be the bag of a passenger of his bus. The reaction of the NRI sisters on finding the bag safe and sound was that the Bijnor Police was even faster than the England Police.
