Gujarat: ATS caught 4 terrorists from Ahmedabad airport
Ahmedabad, May 20 (HS): Gujarat Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested 4 terrorists of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) from Ahmedabad Airport. The captured terrorists are said to be residents of Sri Lanka. It is being investigated whether they have any sleeper cells in Gujarat or any other state. At the same time, 3 IPL teams will reach Ahmedabad on Monday, regarding which Ahmedabad Airport has been put on high alert.
The Central Agency had received input about the arrival of suspicious people of Sri Lankan origin at Ahmedabad Airport. Based on this, Gujarat ATS was already alert. The suspects were caught as they landed at the airport. Ahmedabad ATS is saying that these suspects are connected to the terrorist organization ISIS.
Ahmedabad International Airport was under the surveillance of central agencies for a long time due to smuggling of gold and other items. Meanwhile, the Central Agency got information regarding the terrorists. After sharing this information with Gujarat ATS, Gujarat ATS had increased surveillance at the airport. During the watch, a suspicious person was caught by ATS. After his arrest, information about three other people was obtained during interrogation and they were also arrested.
According to ATS sources, all the four accused who have been arrested are terrorists of the terrorist organization ISIS, who were active for a long time. All are originally residents of Sri Lanka. ATS is trying to find out the main reason for their coming to Ahmedabad and where they were going from here. Information is being collected about whether there was any movement of terrorists or whether they had come here for some other reason etc.
The arrest of ISIS terrorists is feared to be linked to bomb threats in Ahmedabad, Surat and other places. On 6 May, 36 schools in Ahmedabad were threatened with bomb attacks. Whereas voting was to be held in Gujarat on 7th May and many union Ministers including Prime Minister Modi, union Minister Amit Shah were scheduled to visit Gujarat. Apart from this, bomb threats were also made at three places in Surat.
