SRH Sets Record for Most Sixes in a T20 Series

New Delhi – Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) became the team to hit the most sixes in a single T20 series, surpassing Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). This milestone was achieved during the 69th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Punjab Kings on Sunday evening.

With strong innings from Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen, SRH chased a target of 215 runs with five balls to spare at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Hyderabad smashed 14 sixes in the match, bringing their total to 160 sixes in the current IPL season, overtaking RCB's tally of 157 sixes.

Other notable teams with high six counts in T20 series include Chennai Super Kings (145 in IPL 2018), Surrey (144 in T20 Blast 2023), and Kolkata Knight Riders (143 in IPL 2019).

SRH also equaled the record for the most 200-plus scores in a single IPL edition, achieving this milestone six times. This record is shared with Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

In the match, Punjab Kings (PBKS) won the toss and opted to bat first. Strong performances from Prabhsimran Singh (71 runs off 45 balls), Riley Rossouw (49 runs off 24 balls), and Atharva Taide (46 runs off 27 balls) led PBKS to a total of 214/5 in their 20 overs.

Despite a rocky start with Travis Head dismissed for zero, SRH's Abhishek Sharma (66 runs off 28 balls), Nitish Kumar Reddy (37 runs off 25 balls), and Heinrich Klaasen (42 runs off 26 balls) guided the team to victory, scoring 215/6 in 19.1 overs. Abhishek Sharma was named the player of the match for his quick-fire half-century.

With this win, SRH stands second in the points table with 17 points from eight wins, five losses, and one no-result match. PBKS, on the other hand, are in ninth position with five wins, nine losses, and 10 points.
