Mumbai: 2 more bodies found in Ghatkopar hoarding accident, toll goes up to 16

Mumbai, May 15 (HS): Two more bodies were found on Wednesday morning during rescue work in the hoarding accident in Ghatkopar. The number of deaths in this accident has increased to 16.

An NDRF official said that the work of removing both the bodies is going on at the spot. This morning, a sudden fire broke out in the petrol pump at the spot, which was immediately extinguished. The work of removing the hoarding debris with the help of crane cutter has been going on for the last 44 hours. Eighty eight people have been injured in this incident, out of which 43 people are being treated in Rajawadi Hospital.

An NDRF official said that the rescue team is continuing its efforts to lift the hoarding with two cranes of 500 metric tonne capacity. Along with this, safety is being given priority here, the reason for this is inflammable petrol, diesel and gas in petrol pumps. For this reason gas cutter is not being used here. "We were continuously spraying water even while using cranes and other machinery." He said that due to the fall of the hoarding, its five iron pillars were uprooted along with pieces of its concrete foundation.

A huge hoarding has fallen in Ghatkopar due to stormy rain on Monday. Fire brigade personnel and NDRF team are still working on removing debris on the spot.
