Shabana Azmi honoured with 'Freedom of the City of London' award

Distinguished contribution to film and publioc life

London, 15 May (HS): Renowned actress Shabana Azmi was honoured with the ?Freedom of the City of London? award in recognition of her contribution to Indian cinema and Women?s Rights. Shabana was in London to participate in the annual UK Asian Film Festival. A special programme was organised to mark her 50 years in the film industry.

Shabana Azmi has won five National Awards as Best Actress and six Filmfare Awards. The Freedom of the City of London award is given to people with significant contributions to public life.

Shabana said that she feels honoured for her work. Cinema is a powerful medium to influence the society.
