Drunken Youth Kills Family Over De-Addiction Center Dispute

Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh: A horrifying incident unfolded this morning in Palhapur village, under the jurisdiction of Rampur-Mathura police station in Sitapur district, as a young man took the lives of his mother, wife, and three children before committing suicide. The tragic sequence of events occurred due to a dispute over sending the man to a de-addiction center against his wishes.

Superintendent of Police Chakresh Mishra confirmed the deaths of Anurag Thakur (42), his mother Savitri Devi (65), his wife Priyanka (40), and his children Ashwini (12), Advait (06), and an unnamed daughter (10). Anurag, known to be struggling with alcohol addiction, faced resistance from his family regarding his drinking habits. Despite their efforts to convince him to seek treatment, he remained adamant.

The situation escalated when the family decided to take him to a de-addiction center today. Enraged by this decision, Anurag resorted to violence, fatally shooting his family members before turning the gun on himself. Police have secured the village and are conducting further investigations.

Neighbors recounted instances of Anurag's drunken behavior leading to domestic disputes, causing concern among the family and community. Despite their best efforts, the tragedy could not be averted, highlighting the devastating impact of addiction on families.
