Surat Police Capture Drug Mafia After 1800 km Chase
Special Operation Group Arrests Accused Wanted in Rs 1 Crore MD Drugs Case
Surat Police's SOG apprehended a drug mafia member, wanted in a Rs 1 crore MD drugs case, after chasing him 1800 km from Surat to Barabanki, UP. The accused, Mohmand Kasif, was caught outside a Dargah in Barabanki after a coordinated effort by disguised policemen from Unnao and Barabanki.
Surat : The Special Operation Group (SOG) of Surat Police has successfully apprehended one of the two drug mafias wanted in the MD drugs case worth Rs 1 crore. The accused were caught from the Rampura area of Surat city last week, after a pursuit spanning 1800 km that ended in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh.
According to reports, the SOG team had conducted a raid in the Rampura area based on secret information. Upon encountering the police, two youths managed to flee but left behind a bag full of drugs. The police recovered MD drugs worth Rs 1 crore from the bag. The two absconding accused, Mohmand Kasif and Shebaz Irshad Hussain Khan, were later declared wanted.
Following leads that Mohmand Kasif was headed towards Mumbai, PSI Anirudh Singh Jebaliya, along with policemen Jitendra Singh Rathod and Jitendra Singh Chauhan, went to Mumbai. However, Kasif had already left for UP before the SOG team arrived in Mumbai. The police tracked Kasif to UP through technical surveillance, leading them to Unnao and eventually Barabanki.
The SOG team, disguised as local villagers and members of the Muslim community, conducted investigations in Barabanki. They received information about the accused hiding in Deva Sharif Dargah. The team kept surveillance outside the Dargah throughout the night, and upon Kasif's departure in the early hours, they apprehended him.
During interrogation, Kasif disclosed that he procured drugs from Mumbai and sold them in retail. The investigation revealed the involvement of Asif and Imran from Mumbai, who are now wanted by the police.
