A tragic incident occurred on weekend at Kamat Resort on the Silvassa-Bhilad road, where Veersingh Dharamsingh Chauhan, a 41-year-old resident of Vesu in Surat and an employee of ONGC in Hazira, drowned in the resort's swimming pool.
Veersingh had gone to Silvassa with two friends for some work. Late at night, he went to bathe in the resort's pool, which was about seven feet deep. Unfortunately, he drowned, prompting his friends to raise an alarm. Resort staff rushed to the scene and retrieved Veersingh from the pool, but he was already deceased.
The police were notified, and the body was sent for postmortem. The authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter.
