Surat city in Gujarat witnessed a significant crackdown today as police raided and dismantled a gambling den operating under the guise of a Vastushastra center. The raid, conducted in the Kapodra area's Gayatri Nagar Society, resulted in the arrest of 14 individuals and the confiscation of cash and other items valued at Rs 2.26 lakh.
The gambling operation lured individuals by purportedly promoting Vaastu Yantra and Shri Yantra, using these symbols to entice unsuspecting participants. Participants were encouraged to gamble online, with winners reportedly receiving nine times their wagered amount every five minutes.
Police investigations revealed that the gambling den was facilitated by two marketing agencies, known as Honest One and Honest Two. These agencies allegedly managed the gambling activities, accessing online platforms via ID and password, and displaying results on TV screens across Gujarat from 8 am daily.
This incident underscores the nefarious tactics employed by some to exploit religious sentiments for illicit gains. Authorities emphasize the importance of stringent action against such activities to combat superstition and illegal practices in society.
