Indian Junior Men's Hockey Team to Tour Europe
Team to gain international experience through matches in Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands.
Hockey India has revealed the Indian junior men's hockey team's itinerary for their upcoming tour of Europe from May 20 to May 29, 2024. The team is scheduled to play five matches against club teams from Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands, aiming to gain valuable international experience.
The tour is part of Hockey India's efforts to provide exposure and enhance the skills of young players. The team will kick off their campaign with a match against a Belgian team in Antwerp on May 20, followed by another match against Belgium in Breda on May 22.
Next, the Indian junior men's hockey team will face the Netherlands' Bredge Hockey Vereeniging Push on May 23 in Breda, before taking on Germany on May 28 in Germany. The tour will conclude with a rematch against Germany in Breda on May 29.
Defender Rohit will lead the team, with Shardanand Tiwari serving as his deputy. Rohit expressed the team's eagerness to compete and learn from the international matches, highlighting the opportunity to enhance their gameplay through exposure to different styles of play.
Vice-Captain Shardanand Tiwari echoed Rohit's sentiments, emphasizing the tour's significance in evaluating the team's strengths and areas for improvement. The tour will also provide individual players with a chance to assess their performance on an international platform.
The Indian junior men's hockey team squad includes Prince Deep Singh and Bikramjeet Singh as goalkeepers, Shardanand Tiwari, Yogambar Rawat, Anmol Ekka, Rohit, Manoj Yadav, and Talam Priyo Barta as defenders, and Ankit Pal, Roshan Kujur, Bipin Bilwara Ravi, Mukesh Toppo, Manmeet Singh, and Vachan HA as midfielders. The forward line comprises Saurabh Anand Kushwaha, Arshdeep Singh, Gurjot Singh, Mohammad Conan Dad, Dilraj Singh, and Gursevak Singh.
